Hi gang. I've officially begun The Vein of Gold now...and what i notice in myself most of all is resistance I don't wanna!! I don't wanna do my timeline. I don't wanna revisit my life. Anyone else experience this? Any tips on how to get through it?

Well, since we're all new to the Vein of Gold book, I can tell you this: I think it is almost a universal stumbling block.

Does that make you feel better?

Maybe not.

I will say that while I piddled around with the narrative time line for weeks what got it done was setting aside a block of time on Sunday morning (3 hours) and just writing the whole thing start to finish.

Also, I'm going to send a group email today about this assignment too.

Yup. I have big time resistance to the prose. Truly badly written. And I don't want to do the time line. I got quite a bit done by going to my fav coffee shop, which plays classical music, and drinking a gallon of peppermint tea and just sitting down and powering through. Still more bad years to revisit...

I find I can use this resistance to the prose to mask my resistance to the exercises. I knew the prose was bad when I decided to try this. THe morning pages are surprisingly useful. Ditto the Artist Dates. I allow myself to be very grumpy, and then I just go ahead and do the damn work.

That's a very good thought, Linera.

And I won't camp alone.
